Excavating EgyptA message from CLIR Postdoctoral Fellow, Elizabeth A. Waraksa: Dear colleagues, I would like to share the news that a major exhibition of Egyptian art will be arriving at the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum on the campus of Cal State, San Bernardino on Saturday, November 22, 2008. This exhibition, entitled, "Excavating Egypt: Great Discoveries from the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology," features more than 200 pieces of art from the Petrie Museum at University College London, and the Fullerton Museum is the only West coast venue for the show. The exhibition will remain on view until February 15, 2009. I will be speaking at the Fullerton Museum on two occasions in conjunction with this exhibit. The first is a preview for Friends of the Fullerton Museum taking place on Saturday, November 22 at 4:30pm, which will be immediately followed by a public reception from 5-7pm. I will also be presenting a public art history lecture entitled, "You CAN Take it With You: Funerary Arts from the Petrie Museum" on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 5pm. I hope that you and your families and friends will make the trip out to San Bernardino to see the exhibit and to enjoy the events surrounding it. I also have the exhibition’s catalogue in my office if anyone would care to take a look at it. More information about the "Excavating Egypt" exhibition, and the Fullerton Museum, can be found here: museum.csusb.edu/pressroom_34.html. With best wishes, Elizabeth Sharon Farb
