ACRL Instruction Section Awards: Call for Nominations

The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Instruction Section Awards Committee is seeking nominations for the Ilene F. Rockman Instruction Publication of the Year Award and the Instruction Section Innovation Award. The Ilene Rockman Instruction Publication of the Year Award recognizes a preeminent book or article about information literacy and instruction in an academic library. The Instruction Section Innovation Award recognizes a project that exhibits innovative strategies in information literacy instruction or programming.

Each award offers a $3,000 cash prize along with a plaque or a certificate. The nominated publication or project must have occurred within the last two years. Nominations for either award must be submitted by December 5, 2008. For information on nomination criteria and other details, email IS Awards Committee Co-Chairs Susan E. ACRL Online Seminar: Teaching Portfolios for Librarians

ACRL is offering a three-week online seminar entitled "Teaching Portfolios for Librarians" on November 3-23, 2008. In this workshop participants will learn the basic structure of teaching portfolios as well as how to arrange their own portfolios according to a well-articulated teaching philosophy. Instruction will be enhanced with hands-on exercises where participants can engage in peer review and other online interactions. The workshop will be presented by Judith Arnold, Joan Ruelle, and Beth Woodard.

Fees:

  • $135 (ACRL members)
  • $175 (ALA members)
  • $195 (Non-members)
  • $60 (Students)

Reclassifications

Paul Camp has been reclassified from Library Assistant IV to Administrative Specialist in the Biomedical Library.

Departures

Koyo Moriwaki, Library Assistant III, Southern Regional Library Facility, has accepted a position as a speech language pathologist with the Baldwin Park Unified School District.
