New ACRL Title: Pedagogy for Library Instructors ACRL has published a new book entitled Practical Pedagogy for Library Instructors: 17 Innovative Strategies to Improve Student Learning. Edited by Douglas Cook and Ryan L. Sittler, this publication gathers seventeen practical case studies using unique instructional methodologies framed by sound pedagogical theory. As the degree of user-centered information literacy and library instruction increases there is a need for new approaches to teaching. Many librarians come from disciplines other than education and seek to upgrade their skills in the area of instruction. This practical casebook is an excellent tool for librarians who have had little formal training in education. Cases include a broad spectrum of educational theories, from behavioral to cognitive to constructivist. Each chapter is grounded in the education and library literature and explores the potential for using pedagogical approaches that closely match instructional aims. Practical Pedagogy for Library Instructors is available for purchase through the ALA Online Store (alastore.ala.org) or by telephone at (866) 746-7252.
