Provide instruction and assistance in using basic reference resources such as periodical indexes, directories, and dictionaries under the direction of reference librarian. Provide users with needed information, options for finding needed information, or appropriate referral to reference librarian. Service minor problems with library's public workstations, printers, and microfiche/film reader/printers.

| Required Skills and Knowledge: | MUST BE A CURRENTLY ENROLLED DEPT. OF INFORMATION STUDIES GRADUATE STUDENT. Skill in oral communication to concisely and clearly convey information, using diplomacy and appropriate grammar and vocabulary, to a variety of people including library users and staff in a high volume public service setting. Ability to listen actively and interpret requests accurately in order to determine users' information needs and identify solutions. Ability to work independently while following established procedures and guidelines. Ability to make judgments and refer public appropriately, both to librarians and to other libraries. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow staff members. Ability to work effectively in a high volume setting.

Call in equiment repairs to outside vendors or BruinCard Office technicians. Perform opening and closing procedures, logging on and off of computers. Responsible for minor servicing of BruinCard card system. Under the guidance of Unit Head, provide administrative and computer support.
