TPAC MEETING
1/25/01

Present:

Absent:

  1. Review draft documentation: Exchanges Received Through YRL Serials on DRA Classic (and OLGA)
TPAC reviewed Lorelyn’s draft of this document, and worked through the questions brought up by Lorelyn and YRL Serials staff as a result. Lorelyn will incorporate these answers and other suggested changes and send out a revised draft to TPAC.
  2. Web2 for Classic
Lola currently has made a request to the DRA Help Desk to confirm that data on the Web2 results screen is there by design (i.e., that the status “ordered” displays, but the status “received” does not). TPAC has decided that this will not affect the plans for Classic training (see agenda item 7 below).
  3. TAOS Serials Module
Lola reported that the TAOS Serials Module has been received and that the Serials Implementation Planning Task Group has been appointed. Lola will be chairing this group. The group will report to the AUL for Information Technology, who will collaborate closely with the AUL for Collections and Technical Services in supporting the work of the Task Group. The Task Group will be expected to make recommendations to EXCOMM in two reports. The first is due May 1, 2001, and the second report is due by Aug. 1, 2001.
  4. Classic Supplier Cleanup Project
Lola supplied a partial breakdown of the numbers of Supplier File records containing bad data (from migrated IP/TC 970 fields) for each unit (excluding Chemistry, Geology, Physics) that need correction. Germaine noted that this project should be bumped up on the priority list, as we don’t want this dirty data to migrate to the TAOS Serials or Acquisitions Modules. TPAC needs to investigate the time and staffing that would be involved to complete this cleanup and report this information to Cindy Shelton. Germaine will take a sample of the affected supplier records to estimate the time it will take and to identify potential problems related to the cleanup.

Revised documentation: Creating a Supplier Record in DRA Classic
Lorelyn presented a revised version of this document. TPAC will finalize these changes at the next meeting.

  5. NetLibrary
Germaine reported that the purchase order for the initial order of over 500 titles from NetLibrary has been sent. The MARC records have been loaded into the TAOS Cataloging Client, and access to the titles is available on the OPAC. Several discrepancies have been identified between the original order list and actual titles supplied; Sharon Farb is currently working to rectify the situation. TPAC needs to agree on recommended procedures for the order and payment of these items, to ensure Library-wide consistency. Germaine has offered to draft the procedures that YRL has developed and will present them to TPAC for comment.
  6. TPAC Classic Documentation Subcommittee
Since membership on the TPAC Subcommittee on Classic Documentation has been reduced to only Sharon and Lorelyn, TPAC approved their recommendation to discontinue this subcommittee. All future Classic documentation can be assigned to various TPAC members, based on their specific knowledge and expertise. Sharon distributed a list of five Classic documents that need to be written or revised. TPAC will discuss these in the near future.
  7. Classes for Bibliographers and Public Service Staff (Classic Training)
It was agreed that this training should go on, with or without the availability of Web2. This instruction will be offered to all who need it. Germaine has graciously volunteered to do the training, and Lorelyn will assist her with the preparation for the classes by finding good examples to be used during the sessions. TPAC hopes to be able to offer these classes in late February.
  8. Miscellaneous
Next TPAC meeting: Feb. 8, 2001
