Andy Kohler, Carlo Medina, Reynaldo Quitos (Chair), Angela Riggio, Sharon Sullivan, Germaine Wadeborn (recorder), Lola Willoughby. |
TPAC discussed varying uses for Classic Report Class and Subject codes. Several possibilities would be to indicate when serial subscriptions that are not automatically renewed need to be reordered, or for an active wants list.
Sharon has created examples in Classic for serial reorders with the Report Class code of Reorder. Testing is currently being done to see how this will work.
Gemaine has set up an example with the Report Class code of Wants. Testing is currently being done.
Andy K. will draft a Techserv-L announcement listing the various Wants resources available on the web.
The committee also discussed use of Classic Selection lists to mimic the ORION1 SBF (future purchase) capability.
TPAC will further investigate with CMC, Acquisitions Department Head and others who have an interest in getting acquisitions data from Classic.
LIS is looking into the cause for the recent slowness of Classic. Staff should note when it is slow and report to Lola. Include what you were doing, the time of day and whether or not it gets worse.
TPAC has observed that Classic is generally slower than it has been. It is taking longer than it used to when inputting searches. Especially commands that take you back a screen or two. (e.g. F10 or CTRL Z). Lola will investigate and if necessary contact DRA.
Web2 for Classic: problem with licensing agreement has not been resolved. Lola will talk with Terry. TPAC is anxious to test before selector training sessions are scheduled.
Many units are in the middle of rewrite procedures. TPAC suggests that this be completed before this report is run.
TPAC will review the existing handouts and make suggestions for revisions. The sessions will be scheduled once we know if and when Web 2 will be available. The sessions will deal with issues pertinent to selectors (e.g. how to look at fund records, how and where to find acquisitions notes indicating when a title was ordered, received, canceled, claimed, etc.). A FAQ list will be added to the handout package.
If Web2 is not available by the end of October, TPAC will need to discuss how to proceed. Sessions potentially could be scheduled in January 2001.
Angela reported that the Cataloging Client Documentation Committee has asked TPAC for input on the policies and procedures that may need revision.
