Reynaldo Quitos (Chair), Andy Kohler, Angela Riggio, Sharon Sullivan (recorder), Germaine Wadeborn, Lola Willoughby

Absent:

  1. We reviewed the “Instructions for Preparing deposits for the SRLF” that Angela brought from the Documentation Committee. TPAC approved the document with one suggestion: that the introduction includes the fact that ghost holdings records are suppressed from the OPAC.
  2. We discussed the draft of “Entering Invoices without Invoice Numbers into Classic” which Germaine had prepared. Sharon volunteered to revise the document with suggestions from TPAC.
  3. TPAC decided to create links from the web site of “DRA Classic Documents and Procedures” Tables to the LC web sites for MARC country and language codes: http://lcweb.loc.gov/marc/languages/ and http://lcweb.loc.gov/marc/countries/ Sharon will embed links to these two web sites in the DRA Classic documents for creating bibliographic records. She will also revise the document on using country codes in DRA Classic supplier records, so that it is clear that they are distinct from the MARC country codes used in bibliographic records. Supplier records use NISO country codes, which are only occasionally the same as the MARC country codes.
  4. Andy Kohler reported on the status of the web version of the DRA Classic supplier database he is developing. He hopes that it will be ready for general use by mid-October.
  5. Lola reported that LIS plans to begin work on the Classic Web2 project during the second week of September. There is still no projected date from DRA on the availability of the Safari report program for use with TAOS.
  6. We discussed further uses for the 60 possible Classic report codes.

    1. Sharon volunteered to research the use of a “REORDER” report code on the po line item that could generate lists of titles that need to be reordered regularly, since they are not available as subscriptions. We will use an “IHMmm” code in the Alert field to further define the time that the title should be reordered. Lola will work with Sharon to produce a sample report that all units might find useful.
    2. Germaine will research the possibility of using a “WANTS” report class to produce lists of all outstanding orders for out-of-print titles that vendors are looking for. She and Lola will examine several possibilities for producing the desired reports and will advise TPAC at the next meeting.
    3. Sharon will also bring a draft proposal for tracking more data on electronic journal subscriptions using report classes.
  7. TPAC will discuss Classic training classes for selectors at our next meeting. Reynaldo will send us copies of proposed training materials to review beforehand. In order to determine whether we might include a description of the Classic Selection List function in our classes, Germaine will examine documentation and report back to us. The selection list function is not currently “live” in Classic, but might be useful to implement for various types of pre-selection documentation. (e.g., WANTS, or “buy at the end of the year if we still have funds”)
  8. TPAC approved the online recharge form and procedure, with one addition/correction: We will advise staff to contact “Library Business Services” for certain information. Reynaldo will make the two corrections to the document and will send to Clark/LIS to mount on the web site.
  9. Angela asked TPAC members to look at the ORION2 Cat Client web site for possible revisions to the documentation. Updates and Builds during the past year may have rendered certain instructions obsolete.
  10. Our next meeting will be Thursday, September 14, 2000, 10:00 a.m-12:00 p.m. in the YRL Staff Conference Room (formerly the Artemis Conference Room). Germaine Wadeborn will take minutes.
